Why this matters
SP Energy Networks is replacing a key 132kV electricity circuit that runs between Knowsley, Liverpool and Sefton — one of the region’s most important cables, first installed in the 1960s.
As we move toward Net Zero, the way people use electricity is changing fast. This project will help meet that demand — supporting new housing, electric vehicles, and low-carbon heat.
The upgrade is being delivered in phases over next two years, with early works starting this August in Knowsley.
